This was a very well structured murder mystery. The story is retold from different points of view, keeping you guessing throughout the story.

:fresh: this film kept me wondering for the entire film a decent psychological thriller.
This movie was freaky. I had seen a bit of it before, and my friend said it was really good, so I decided to watch it today before work. The fact that it had Thora Birch didn't have anyhting to do with it... I swear

The director used different time sequences and different veiws on the characters to show the differnt stories. The movie was basically about four kids who go into this big, underground hole thing, and shit starts to happen. I was surprised to see Keira Knightly flash her boobs too... shame it wasn't Thora. Oh I'm sorry, where was I? Thats right, bad stuff happens :o . I dont want to say anymore about it to give anything away, but I do recomend you all see it. Now.
Seeing as my other review was for the deplorable "Cabin Fever", I thought that this film would be a good follow up review. I think the scripts might have got mixed up for these two movies, because "The Hole" presented the horrors of cabin fever far better than "Cabin Fever" ever could have hoped to.

The acting was credible, the script was a little laboured. The movie on the whole however, was good. Although the use of flashbacks revealed the outcome a little earlier than I would have liked, I enjoyed this spin on a well-used premise.

Thora Birch's performace was good, Kiera Knightly was gorgeous as usual, and the male leads (who I am not so familiar with) were also okay, though I thought less developed that they could have been, as it would have provided more suspense.
The 2001 British Thriller, The Hole, is one of those often unheard and quickly thrown away movies, that many people never see. Well if you manage to see The Hole, you actually are in a for rare treat. The Hole is about 4 students, who are dreadign a field trip to Whales, desperate, they seek out Martin Taylor,a teen who has many hard to attain skills with computer manages a plan for the 4 students to miss the field trip, and spend the weekend hidden in a deserted army bunker, a deep dark hole. The 4 students, Mike,Liz (Thora Birch), Jeff and Frankie (Keira Knightley) planned to stay in the hole for the weekend and be let out by Martin, but on the day they were expected to be let out, Martin Never showed. The movie now focuses on the students trying to surivive not only their cruel predicament, but also each other. Told with flashbacks, The hole is full of twists and thrills to keep you interested throughout the movie, but it falls back a bit in the effects department. Overall the hole is a freaky movie, that will create a thrilling atmosphere. Check it out.

~ A suspensfull thriller, with many twists and scares to keep you interested.
~ The story is told by two different people, so you see it in different views.
~ Most likely your freinds haven't seen it, so watch it with them.

~ Low budget movie, so very little special effects

Okay...I was disappointed with this movie. I heard about it a few years ago but I thought it would different. When I read about the film and stuff awhile ago, I thought it would be a horror movie, but really it just was a psychological thriller...which isn't too bad, i like those. But still...
Thora Birch plays a girl named Liz. Her and three other friends decide to skip out on some school activity and go off on their own for three days. They find this cellar thing and party down there. However, when they go to leave, the door is locked and they are trapped. Horrible things start to happen and the movie turns out the way I thought it would. Figures. Thora Birch trying to have a British accent got annoying too. One good thing was Desmond Harrington...he's a hottie.
not bad

:fresh: Barely gets a good rating. Had a lot of potential, but didn't live up to it.
"The Hole" is a creepy little British thriller about four college students who get trapped in a WWII bomb shelter. I really liked it when I saw it, but the more I thought about it the more I realized there were monstrous holes in the plot. The entire movie turns on a scheme that the likes of Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot would have seen through in a second, but the clueless cops in this movie are taken in completely. The most pertinent fact...The door only locked from the inside.
Otherwise "Nightmare Before Christmas" turned out to be the best Christmas show I've seen since "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Owning Mahowny" was the story of a bank manager who embezzled big time to feed his gambling addiction and Philip Seymour Hoffman was great in the lead.
