Wow First Comment in 9 years cool :) Anyways i love this movie How i miss you Brittany Murphy you are so missed by so many. To me you will always be Americas Sweetheart
Wasn't bad, but wasn't great. Brittany Murphey was good, but seemed like all she is doing, are the same roles over and over. Now Holly Hunter was pretty good, haven't seen her act in something in some time, and it was nice to see her back on the screen. Not to mention she is pretty hot. The movie was ok, but I'd probably wait to rent it. If you like Carly Simon, she did most of the music for the movie.
i just thought that little black book was a great movie. brittany murphy did a great job. i must say that it was very different than they made it seem from the prieviews. it also ended differently than i predicted. i suggest you see it
I used to be the Features Editor and Film Critic at my University's newspaper. I quite miss writing about films and music. I find myself to be very nerdy when it comes to films...and so are the rest of my friends (you know who you are Boodle and Ruth Weinstock!). I hope that this journal can be a place that I can ramble, which I am sure that it will become.

Last night, I went to see the rockumentary, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster. I went with two friends, who are about as die-hard as Metallica fans come. I was interested in the film, because I like rock docs like The Last Waltz, Monterrey Pop, Bob Dylan: Don't Look Back and of course Rattle and Hum. I'd put This is Spinal Tap, but seeing as though it's a brilliant MOCKumentary, I classify it under comedy.

Unlike my friends, I am not a HUGE Metallica fan. I like some of their music, but I was initally turned off by the whole Lars Ulrich war against Napster and the fact that he ratted out his fans. However, last night, I gained a new found respect for them. You saw the band in the songwriting process and almost on the bring of implosion after the departure of bass player Jason Newsted and the subsequent rehabilitation of vocalist James Hetfield.

Amongst the fighting and the extremely TENSE moments over a nearly three-year time span, you catch a glimpse inside the life of these men in a way that MTV could never show. They were vulnerable, open, angry and undergoing group therapy throughout the film. I had no idea. It was almost as riveting as The Sopranos.

My favorite scenes include the therapy session between Phil the therapist, Lars and Dave Mustaine. It was akward and raw and I had no idea that men, nay, rockstars that come off so hard with a f*** you attitude could hold such emotion. Then there's the moments when Kirk Hammett was stuck in the middle, trying to play the peacemaker and would ultimately smack his forehead with frustration.

I thought it was great. Go and see it.
This movie started off cute but at the end it turned very sad. What a jerk!
Oh blah, blah. A romantic comedy? How is it a romantic comedy when you root for the second stringer over the lead character in the movie. No I am sorry this was a total waste of time with few laughs. How Holly Hunter got hooked up in this mess of a movie, I'll never know and it certainally wasn't a "Working Girl" comedy that it wanted so much to be. If you see this movie, don't say I didn't warn you.
Britney Murphy is black and white. You either love her or you hate her. I love her but I still didn't like the movie. The plot line is a good idea but they didn't execute it well. Plus the ending was very disappointing. She doesn't end up with any man in the end, looks like a big joke, and they do the cheesy cameo at the end of a movie thing. I know that in real life the girl doesn't always end up with the guy, but it just seemed like such a let down. Thankfully, I didn't have to pay to see this movie.
Little Black Book is getting bad ratings, but I thought it was enjoyable. I loved the cast. Holly Hunter is one of my favorite actresses, and I like Brittany Murphy very much, too. The story was simple, nothing outstanding. There were not many laughs. It was just very entertaining, and just about as pathetic as you probably sometimes are being a woman. ;) It was just a comfy movie to me, but may not be to others.
This is a very hard movie to critique.
The laughs were not there.
The acting was fine. Murphy and Bates were charming, Hunter was out there.
The story was long and boring. Dialogue wasn't always great.
So far, the movie's not so good.
The ending is brilliant.
Great message, interesting twist, kept my attention, Hunter was amazing, but it was only 20 minutes.
It seemed like the ending was a completely different entity from the rest of the movie.
And then, of course, there's an epilogue that isn't needed and makes us all bored again.
