best way to keep my 2 year old son occupied while I clean. Great family movie! 8/10

this vidio rocks but ice age 3 is better

The market has been saturated with computer-animated movies for quite some time, and it can be a little difficult to separate the strong from the weak. Some of them are strong because of their pop-culture references, while others seem to be weak for the same reason. Some are strong thanks to their cavalcade of quality actors doing voice-over work, while others fail spectacularly despite their own cavalcades of the same caliber actors. Others have incredibly original stories and environments, while others may attempt the same thing but be labeled (sometimes unfairly) as blatant ripoffs of those very same examples.

I think Ice Age is successful for largely all of the reasons above, except that it is fairly light on pop-culture references, which is actually a good thing, because what would possibly be popular about the ice age as it actually was (besides really cold). The voice work is excellent (even though I don't like Ray Romano, I respect his work here as the grumpy mammoth), the story is interesting, and of course the environment hadn't been used too often before. I haven't seen any of the sequels, because if we've learned anything from other animated movie sequels (Toy Story 2 and Shrek 2 being two of the ONLY exceptions), they can be more of the same, or regress into an endless parade of pop-culture references, and they might as well be grouped in with the terrible, terrible modern spoof films.

Ice Age is strong enough in its own right that it doesn't need to be compared to others in its genre to decide if it's good or not. It has carved out its own niche in the market, much like most Pixar movies have done, but not as so few non-Pixar studios have been able to do outside of Shrek and Kung Fu Panda.
Sentimental comica imaginativa la mezcla perfecta para este film animado de Fox, con una excelente imagan estetica, buen sonido y excelente animacion
Funny for all ages best of the series. (So far there's Ice Age, Ice Age: The meltdown, and Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs.) Ice Age is funny, intriguing and delightful. Especially for the youngsters. This is what I call: A rare Pixar quality CG movie that's not from Pixar.
The story isn't the most original, but this movie has enough going for it to make it a really enjoyable family film. The characters are all well thought out, and the development and emotional moments really make them grow on you. The jokes are also very good (the kung fu dodos were the most hilarious thing ever), and the action is also well put together. Like many film series, the first one is usually strongest. And that holds true to this one.
A decent story to pile up a connection between completely strangers creatures lived in the iceage.Great movie.
Three words, Not too bad, The amusement factor is still enough to hold you over.
A nice family movie.
A great movie for all the family, with some great gags and great animation but the real star of this movie is Scrat.
