A stunning classic that is still awing both young and old sixty years after its release, Gone With the Wind represents cinema at its finest. The characters are well developed and strong, the acting is amazing and the storyline is spectacular. Set against the backdrop of the American Civil War, this movie is a must-see for everyone.
A great classic film, worth the time too watch. :D
Absolutely the best film ever made! It was ground-breaking when it was released, and it has become the paragon of the term "classic film." So much care and attention were put into the making of this film, and it shows through the beautiful acting, costumes, sets, sound, and usage of color and lighting. Furthermore, it does try to stay true to the book, though obviously a lot of things were excluded due to trying to keep the film just under four hours (for example: Scarlett's other two children Wade and Ella, many of the other county folk who lived near Tara, the background stories of many of the characters, etc.). However, such exclusions really only urge the viewers to pick up the book and read it for the first time if they have not already, or to read it again if they already have read it before.

As a final note, Vivien Leigh is, and always will be, the perfect Scarlett O'Hara. The passion and power of this beautiful, tragic actress will forever be immortalized in this film. As was seen through the failures of the so-called sequel "Scarlett" (the novel and the TV mini-series), the legacy of Gone With the Wind should stay as it was with the original 1939 release. The great actors of the film and the quality of the production cannot ever be reproduced or super-ceded.
An essential.
An essential film to all romance drama, it set new landmarks for these types of films, though it seems a bit over longed.
A wonderful movie that raises the bar to the maximum. You'll be craving (in vain) for any movie better. Simply the best classic ever made.
One of Hollywood's number one films of the decade. Filmed beautifully and has a great cast, this film is definitely a classic to be remembered.
OK i fell asleep halfway into the film but the parts i saw (the majority)was amazing. The story, the cast everything is great. Gone with the wind will go down in history as one of the best film in Hollywood's Golden Age
