Happy Friday the 13th!

The Jason is dead. Long live the Jason

Arguably... or, I guess I should say inarguably since very few Friday the Thirteenth fans will disagree with me, this is the worst movie of the whole series suffering from a copycat killer and a lack of the original and true Jason.

The movie kicks off with a much older (and different) Tommy Jarvis being sent to a halfway home for troubled teens. As it turns out, having his mother and friends hacked to death by a whacko in a hockey mask had a negative effect on the boy and now, suffering from dementia and depression, Tommy is struggling to put his life back into order.

The movie plays like an old episode of Scooby-Doo as the characters try to figure out who-done-it before he does it to them. By the end, the movie is tired and boring even with the elements of black humor being injected into the series.

True, the body count is high and the gore is impressive, but the characters suck and you're actually rooting for the lame Jason impostor to finish them off so you don't have to watch them anymore.

By the final frame, you're groaning as the movie reaches its ultimate and predictable conclusion. Thankfully, it was ignored as Part VI came along.
Here are five more films I own that I didn't want to give a particularly long write up about.

The Postman Always Rings Twice
This is the poor 1981 version. I always heard it was a good movie and all, but there's just so much wrong with it. DAvid Mamet wrote and Jack Nicholson stars in this noirish tale about a drifter who blows into town, works for a borish man, falls in love with the wife of his new boss, and together the wife and Jack plan out and execute the man's murder. Then they go to court, turn against each other...and who cares?!?!?!?!?! Just a waste of time.

I don't know...I just could never get into the whole Freddie Kriger thing. Wes Craven is at the helm to tell the tale of a serial killer that kills in dreamland. Brought nothing to the table and really is quite boring and stale. I always just think: "WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!"

Friday the 13th: Part Two
I bought this cold having never seen it around the New Year. I never really got into the whole Jason thing either. But, this is bad...real bad. I mean, when it ends you have no idea what happened to Jason or the last surviving male at the camp. Poor execution and poor script. Not all that scary or gory. BAHH
If your a fan of the F13th Series this is definately a important film. For in Part 2 we get to meet the grown up Jason who in now the one terrorizing crystal lake.
Good fun with a few scares. It had been awhile since I last saw this and there were a few parts that jumped me. Good fun!

I'm not going to do a big breakdown of the film or anything, just wanted to post my thoughts. Ejoyable and fun. Its a friday the 13th film and I think its either one of those things that you either love or hate. Me I love em.
This movie gets crapped on by a lot of Friday fans but I personally think it's the best of the sequels. So the ending is a bit goofy, whatever. These films are to be enjoyed, not analyzed by art critics.
I really liked this movie. That's saying a lot too. Usually I cringe at slasher films. This one was great though. Too bad 90% of the sequels suck.
Friday the 13th Part 2: Much better than the first, but still a 7/10. I could have sworn until I saw the credits that the part of Paul was played by Woody Harrelson, even though I'm sure Woody was much younger than the actual actor in 1981.

I had some fun today talking with Puppy on Yahoo, and I'm rushing through this entry because I want to call her. By the way, did anyone see her new pic? Wowww. She's gonna do some photoshop stuff of me soon, and hopefully composite a shot of me and her together ;)

I just logged off of Final Fantasy XI, and before I did everyone I was partying with told me that I'm the nicest, friendliest player they've met, not to mention the best White Mage. I'm sooo happy about that. Oh, and that reminds me, speaking of Puppy and compliments, she gave me the best one today: "If there was any justise in the world, everyone would be carrying you around on their shoulders and chatting your name" - Thanks again, Puppy!

After watching Friday the 13th part 1 and feeling a bit dissapointed with it. I decided to watch Friday the 13th part 2. Now I wasn't expecting much. A lot of people said that this movie sucked. I disagree. I actually liked it more than the first Friday the 13th. This is where Jason's killings start. I actually thought Jason was more scary with the burlap sack on his head instead of the hockey mask. But the hockey mask does look better atleast. I didn't find the first Friday the 13th movie scary at all. It had a few jumpy momments. I found this had many more jumpy and scary momments then its predecessor. I usually do not like short films. I prefer that movies are long than 90 minutes. This one was only about 85 minutes. The length worked in favor of this movie. If it were longer it would definetely have been much less enjoyable. I am suprised Friday the 13th fans didn't like this entry and enjoyed the first more. By today's standard this movie is okay. I am sure it was much more enjoyable in the 80's. The storyline is quite good as well especially compared to other friday the 13th films. I liked the ending as well. It was mysterious. Now next up I'am going to watch Friday the 13th Part 3(d). Overall Friday the 13th part 2 was a good entry into the franchise. Fans of slasher films and other Friday the 13th movies will most likely enjoy this movie. If your looking for a hockey masked jason, you wont find it here. If your looking for Jason's first movie or just a good old school horror film, this is it and its better than most of the other movies in the Friday the 13th series. An additonal note is that when Jason was teased as a child, the other kids put a burlap sack on his head. This may be the reason he wears a burlap sack in this movie.
