The original is WAY better (just my opinion).
Anyone know where I could find the new uncut version (roughly 97 minutes in length) that was aired in the UK on Channel 4 about a week ago?
Better than the original.
This film wasn't too bad the first one is still by far the best with the claymation effects
Freaky movie, scary, gross, super awesome 9.1/10
Well the original is one my top 10 fav horror films and some might say that blinds my judgement here but i'd say only makes me more qualified now i was probably expecting too much from this reboot thanks in part to pretty good looking trailers and reviews calling this the scariest movie of 2013 which it wasnt i can see how teens and perhaps others around my age who didnt see the original before this could enjoy it more maybe, it did have alot of gore/ cringe moments along with just looking better since this was made 30 years after the first tho i like the raw gritty look of the original overall this just didnt do it for me and i give all remake/reboots a chance and some are really good even exceed the original like Dawn of the dead but this one just felt to unrefined to me but still worth a watch in my opinion 6.5/10
Meh..Not as good as the original 5\10
wow i loved the movie. but i cant see this being the best horror movie of the year. it was good but not scary at all i thought it would made a better comedy than horror all in all it was an enjoyable film i give it a 9/10
Considering this movie is a continuation, rather than a remake, I can forgive a lot. But I'm still left unimpressed. It's nothing more than a gore fest. That's all it is. It isn't "the scariest movie you'll ever see" and it isn't going to "absolutely blow you away". If you want gut wrenching gore, you should watch Cannibal Holocaust. Even the most hardcore women I know have difficulty watching that movie. This rendition of Evil Dead is just plain boring. I was not thrilled at any point watching this. 4.5/10
The biggest element absent from Evil Dead is the sense of inspiration in which Raimi's iteration marinated. So much effort was invested into making the blood and gore look "right" that all the other elements of good horror - particularly the sense of dread - are relegated to the background.

Those who are calling Evil Dead the "scariest movie ever made" don't have a good understanding of the word "scary."This isn't just a horror movie with gore - it's a gore movie, period. Blood is its raison d'etre. It's not scary. It's not shocking. It just wallows in viscera. Ho-hum. Pass the ketchup.
