@dillonfarmer I caught this on tv a while ago and loved it too. It's great lol!
Not the funniest movie in the world, but definitely pretty funny. I just wanted to punch the teenage daughter, though.

You can see it has sort of aged not-so-well, but it's still funny. COuld have done without the "and what a wonderful lesson we've all learned" ending.
I thought this movie was OK. I mean it wasn't great but it wasn't entirely bad. I enjoyed the soundtrack and the concert scene and the fact that the character kate showed her good side in the movie. I'm very familiar with the tv show because i used to watch it so i knew alot about the characters of the movie. I'll give a score of 5/10.
NOT BAD. CANDY AND CULKIN ARE GOOD. ENJOYABLE, NOTHING GREAT, BUT NOTHING BAD EITHER.

UNCLE BUCK
JOHN CANDY---PG

Comedy Quick Rating: (out of 5)
Memorable One Liners: 4.5
Laugh out Loud Score: 3
Acting: 3
Script:3.5
Pace: 3

I had heard alot about this movie, so my expectations were high. John Candy is great as Uncle Buck, funny, loveable, and has some very memorable one-liners. The script and direction however, are average, and not particularly groundbreaking or fresh. Not even a great performace from Candy can save the mediocre building blocks (script, directions) of this could-have-been-great movie.
5.00/10

Uncle Buck (1989). I caught it the other night on USA and its still pretty damned funny after 15 years! This is probably one of John Hughes's last good films, his prime might be over but what a prime it was (Mr. Mom , Vacation, Sixteen Candles , The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off)! As far as actors, John Candy has great chemistry with the entire cast while he plays the freaking funny as hell, over the top Uncle Buck Russell. An early Macaulay Culkin plays his nephew and virtually steals every scene that he's in. Other standouts include Jean Louisa Kelly, Gaby Hoffmann as Buck's nieces, Amy Madigan as the girlfriend, and the wacky neighbor Laurie Metcalf. This is a fairly tight script with no fat, one that moves well and has a laugh on every page (Basic Rule: 1 page of a screenplay equals one minute of screen time unless your writing action which usually equals more). All in all this is a great family comedy, definitely worthy a rental!
