@ajriveraruiz, No. You do not understand what you are talking about. The word you use, perception, implicitly asserts aesthetic relativism. If you study philosophy or art, you will learn that relativism (and aesthetic relativism in the latter case) has for a very long time largely been abandoned and exploded as a concept. Great films are often adaptations of great novels. There are several underlying criteria by which such works are considered great, universally. Surely you have heard of Shakespeare. If his works were relative to the individual, they wouldn't be famous today and classics would not exist. As it happens, he is famous today, as are several hundred other geniuses throughout most every classic language. If you yourself are willing to claim that someone like, say, Christy Turlington wasn't extremely beautiful in her peak years as a model, that doesn't discount that in the fields where countless thousands of experts work and mostly all over the world, she was considered extremely beautiful. Even if it were true it would only mean that you have an aberrant sense of physical beauty in women. If you really do think that relativism has any currency today, you'd do well to look up the subject in said domains. It does not.
Wastage of time may be in 80s it was big horror but nothing special in it better watch The Misery it was kool movie

It's a Thing Called Perception... You Can Say it's Underrated and Another will Call it Overrated. From Age to Culture to Education and Beliefs in-between Nothing is a 10 nor a Zero.
How people can claim that this is anything under a nine is beyond me. First, like any piece of art and like most anything, The Shining has to be reviewed from its appropriate genre, not just as a piece of art, say, or any such level of abstraction. As a horror film, there really is very little that compares. The way Kubrik, considered one of the all time best directors in the history of cinema, period, holds the spectator at a distance from uncertain horror and never actually does or needs reveal it explicitly, in its entirety, is quite unlike most of the rest of the genre. That one unique quality of the film drives it high on the staircase of horror. As well, one must remember who wrote it. Stephen King is known for very interesting science fiction films that truly can horrify the watcher, and the plot of the shining is no different. The acting, the actors chosen, the scenery, the music, the slow, steady build up; I don't think we'll see another horror film come close to Kubrick's... ever. It's not that it was all that scary. It's the way it was scary. That's why it stands out.
One of my all time favorites 8.5/10
8.2/10 its a really good movie, classic. But wow can you believe it's 34 years old O.O
That yellow poster of The Shining reminds me of Chucky. Excellent movie though. Book is even better.
I saw this when it first came out in the theatres and loved it ever since!
Yes, i am THAT OLD!
The Shining with Jack Nicholson is a true horror classic--don't pass this one up!
I am a young, inexperienced but open to advice 16 year old, writer and movie critic. With that being said, this movie shocked me with how pure it was. Absolutely an amazing, classic horror story. I love movies that give you that sensation that absolutely paralyzes you from head to toe, and this movie did just that.
Wow one of the old classical scary Movies! Perfect
