hahahaha crazy movie so funny :P
"The Farrlley's return to R-rated comedy is heartbreakingly mediocre."

I rated this movie a four because it made me laugh a little and it didn't put me to sleep; I was wide awake waiting for it to be REALLY funny.

I'm a fan of Ben Stiller and LOVED Something About Mary - this just doesn't cut it and I'm really bummed. I was lookinng forward to seeing this movie for over a month now. By the time credits roll, Ben Stiller's character really isn't even very likable.

I don't mind the raunchiness of the movie at all. I just never found myself rooting for anyone in the movie by the time it was over and most of the funny scenes had already been seen in previews.

Just a shame...

So overall, The Heartbreak Kid is definately a must-see raunchfest if you are a fan of any of the Farrelly Brothers previous classics like There's Something About Mary & Me, Myself & Irene. If any of those made you laugh-out-loud, I guarantee you will find this one to be as funny. For me, this is easily one of the funniest movies that I have seen all year long & way better than many critics have put it out to be. PEACE OUT!!!
The usually great Farrelly Brothers and fantastic Ben Stiller swing and miss this time around. The Heartbreak Kid starts off quite well, but tires quickly. This movie drags on and on. Malin Akerman was fantastic in this movie (the only saving grace to the film's credit--aside from the funniest Jerry Stiller performance ever and a very funny Rob Corddry--but their roles were small). The movie would have been a total flop without Malin, she proved herself well for her future career. The only problem is that she somewhat disappears in the movie for the last half; and this is when the movie becomes dull. Watch the film up until the point where she gets sunburned, then you can leave the theater and rest assured that you've missed nothing and save about an hour of your life for more meaningful things. The ending, especially, was terrible. Ben Stiller's worst performance ever, sorry Ben, still love ya. And NEVER, EVER, put Carlos Mencia in another movie--wow he was bad.
This film was a major let down. I think the late night crowd I viewed the movie with were intoxicated-that's the only reason I can imagine they were laughing. This was another example of extreme marketing tactics to sell a mediocre film. After recently re-viewing Meet the Parents, I say shame on you Ben Stiller for this performance. I chuckled through a few parts of the movie, but overall this movie was WAY over promoted. None of the cast members were memorable and the plot was goofy with a few gross parts thrown in to get some cheap laughs-probably the only laughs of the movie. Having had the previews forced on me for months prior to viewing other flics, I was really looking forward to its release. It seems lately that the longer they promote a film, the worse it is. At least with Balls of Fury, you knew it was going to be a stupid premise. This film billed itself as a smarter comedy, but even Something About Mary makes this film pale in comparison. The plot was stupid and the acting was mediocre and not that funny.

I don't think I can recommend paying the money to see this on the big screen at all. I would be hard pressed to pay full price to rent this one on dvd. If you must rent it, use a coupon or you will be mad for spending money on this film. Better yet, rent Meet the Parents or Meet the Fockers instead for some real comedy with Ben Stiller in it.
Ben, Ben, Ben! You used to be funny!

Exactly what in the world was that? A comedy? The audience didnt think so. No one was laughing!!

After seeing this movie, you will not wonder why
DREAMWORKS SKG went under.

I have never seen Ben so desperate to try to make something work. He was probably thinking to himself I cant believe I got myself into this bomb of a movie. They say the good ones make it look easy. Think Jerry Seinfeld. Ben looked like he was in pain and was desperately trying to act funny. He definitely did not pull it off. Just ask the non-laughing audience.

All you have to do is set up a camera and look at the audience response to see how funny this move was NOT.

Wow. That was rather uncomfortable. I feel sorry for Ben & Pals.

It was quite clear that they tried to get a CAMERON DIAZ look alike for the female role. I'm guessing that she was presented to role, the script and VERY WISELY passed on this role.

The movie was one of the most UNFUNNY movies I have ever seen. It is the textbook defnition of Rottentomatoes.

I can see the producing execs on this one. "Hey, hey, lets get Ben to do something, something like Something About Mary. Why dont we get him and the Farleys back on this one. And get Cameron on it as well. It'll be great, it'll be great."

Yeah! Sure. I dont think so.
One of the most boring unfunny desperate movies i have ever seen. Just ask the unamused audience.

Ben, Ben, Ben. Your using up your Nine Lives here, my friend. You used to be funny. What happened?

Movie Synopsis: Single and indecisive, Eddie (Ben Stiller) begins dating the incredibly sexy and seemingly fabulous Lila. Upon the urging of his father and best friend, Eddie proposes to her after only a week, fearing this may be his last chance at love, marriage, and happiness. However, while on their honeymoon in sunny Mexico, Lila reveals her true beyond-awful nature and Eddie meets Miranda, the woman he realizes to be his actual soul mate. Eddie must keep his new, increasingly horrid wife at bay as he attempts to woo the girl of his dreams.

My Thoughts: Adding to the list of dissapointing remakes, is The Heartbreak Kid. Now it's now were as dissapoiting (or as unessecary for that matter) as the Halloween remake, but it is still a dissapointment. When you think of the talent involved, there was just a lot of expectations. Ben Stiller + Sex Comedy + Farrelly Brothers = Gold?.. It worked with Something About Mary. The Farrelly Brothers have been on a downward spiral for years now, their last good movie was Fever Pitch. Were do I start with The Heartbreak Kid? How about how uneven the film is. The film starts off really fresh, cute, funny and raunchy. Just the way we like our sex comedies. The first 30 minutes of the film, is really promising and set up the film well. After those 30 minutes it was just downhil from there.

It becomes this tired shlock that, isn't very entertaining. Ben Stiller, who I am an on and off fan of is tired in this, and isnt very fresh. Malin Akerman is the best thing of this movie, along with Jerry Stiller. The very funny lead actress from the great short lived series with Lisa Kudrow, The Comeback, is pretty hilarious in her role and is maybe the saving grace of the film. The first sex scene is hilarious, disgusting and twisted and she is just brilliant. The car scene were she knows every word, to every song is great. Jerry Stiller is the complete oppisite of himself, the man we grew to love on King of Queens and all his classic shows and movies, he is this dirty mouthed oldtimer who has maybe the funniest scene in the whole movie were, not to spoil it but, has some nice water balloons to play with in a jacuzzi, thats all I'm saying.

Besides those few moments of bliss, this film becomes a mess towards it final acts. It completely derives from the sujbect of the film, and it never entirely satifies you, especially the ending. The last 30 seconds of the film feels like a bonus feature they just ripped out to have an actual ending, and it left a sour taste in my mouth. The whole film just feels tired, and your sitting there sometimes bored actually because of the uninspired "jokes". I feel like I'm being harsh on the film, and I am but its not that horrible. Agian, the first 30 minutes or so is maybe the funniest stuff that the Farrelly brothers have done since Mary, but that doesn't entirely save the film. As good as Malin was, I think if it was a bigger female comdian star who could have gone as far as she did and maybe cut Stiller, with someone else who hasn't played this role time and time agian, it could have been funnier.. or maybe it wouldnt have, a nice and tighter script could have done the job as well.

Michelle Monaghan is the final string of dissapointments this film seems to take pleasure in giving us. Her and Stiller have chemistry but, she is kind of flat, and dull. Her character is cute, but your annoyed by her at the end. I'm being mean but, make me laugh and you'll get the glowing review, see Judd Apatow for that. The film by the ending is just a mess, and doesnt make sense, isn't funny and is dissapointing. It's a shame, agian, since the talent invovled. Gosh darnit, just when this year was becomming a comedy highlight and this was looking to continue the trend, this and that damn Good Luck Chuck had to spoil the fun.
Very disappointing remake of a classic comedy. Crossing the line of funny to crass.
very hit-or-miss; and when it misses, it misses bad.
