klaatu barada nikto ;)
does anyone have the movie in color? I think the movie is excellent.
This is the most quintessential scifi movie of all time. It is simplistic and carries a good message. This is my most favorite science fiction movie ever made. Michael Rennie was perfect for this role. And I loved Patricia Neal in it. Now the remake was just awful. No need in trying to improve on a perfect movie with a remake, because you just cant. I grew up watching this movie, and will continue to watch it.
This is one of the best Sci-Fi movies of all time. It's a commentary on the political and social turmoil 1940's and 50's. The message of the movie is most important and it holds true still today. The score is legendary and this movie shaped how aliens and flying saucers are depicted in pop-culture even today. By today's standards the special effects and costuming seem a bit rudimentary. If you are able to slip your imagination into the era that the movie was filmed, though, you will be able to appreciate the effect it had on it's audience in the 50's.
