i started hanging out with this chick and this is one of her favorite shows so i had to watch it... just reminded me why i stopped watching it when they gave us warepanthers so aweful but worth worth ;)
@meabbas I think the real problem is more people are born into these communities. The mainstream Mormon church abandoned polygamous practices sometime in the 1800s and some people broke off and formed their own small communities. Kind of like how the "westboro baptist church" that goes and protests funerals claims to be the true Baptist church, but really it's like 100 people mostly in the same family. These people live in small communities, often made up of only a few hundred people. Compare that to the mainstream Mormon church which is like 17 million or something like that. It's basically like small-town seclusion and sheltering from the outside world that keeps these things alive. Yes, there are converts and all, but I think that is extremely rare. For the most part, their communities only exist by being born into them, and they appear to be shrinking, rather than growing, especially in the modern world of the internet where it is nearly impossible to truly shelter people from the world now. This was an interesting documentary
That was really a good watch. I wasn't quite sure what to expect because the comments seemed to point to this or that, if you happen to read mine first, you might prefer to just not read any more, watch the film then come back and finish reading the comments, as not to spoil anything. Excellent quality link, movie is 90 minutes so not too long, and I enjoyed it a lot. 9 out of 10.
