Harold & Kumar 2
I haven't watched this movie since it came out in theaters, just as funny as I remember!
H&K II is even better than the first one. You would think that we would be numbed to the antics of Harold and Kumar, but NO, they continue to surprise and make us laugh - A LOT. Saw the preview last night and it was hilarious. The standing ovation afterwards just confirmed my feelings.

Once again, H&K makes us think about racism in a thoughtful way while we laugh our asses off!

The title Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay does not sound like a promising movie. Well, going in to this stoner comedy I knew that I was in for my share of ridiculous antics(as the last movie had a cheetah in it) and boy did it delivery on that front. First of all, thankfully the Guantanamo Bay aspect of the film is mercifully short (if morbidly offensive), because apparently it's easier to breakout of than your local prison. The film revels in racial stereotypes so much its hard to get offended because at least it is dishing around them equally. But lets face it you really can't get offended here(though it came close for me) because the film is in itself so utterly insane that nothing can be taken seriously anyway.

Anyway despite the staggering problems this film suffers(I didn't go into half of the jokes that didn't work), there is a good time to be had, mainly because of the actors. Kal Penn and John Cho are fantastic, and Neil Patrick Harris seems to revel in his role as himself. Rob Cordorry has a great deal of fun with his role, as does Roger Bart who makes what he can of a part that should have never been written to begin with. Overall, remember going in that this a stoner comedy that has both a fart and masturbation joke 5 minutes in and my may just have a good time. Kill me, but I was entertained.(I did see it for free too...that may have impacted it as well.)
Best Comedy so far in 2008

Saw the screener yesterday at NYC 60th and 3rd. I went in not expecting much, like any other sequels, but this movie really surprised me. Like the first one, the story line was planned out really well, with slapstick throughout the entire movie. The scene with Rosenburg and Goldstein being interrogated was classic. This movie continues with the racial jokes, but really brings light to race awareness and injustice we face here in the U.S.

The screener I saw was most likely the unrated version as they had a scene called "The Bottomless Party". One thing that was surprising in the movie was the focus on Kumar's love interest and how he changed from a "geek" to the "Kumar" we know today.

I give this movie a Must Go, if you were fans of the first movie, then this one is a can't miss. Even for people unaware of this movie, you should watch the first one just to keep up to date as this movie includes references to the first one.
