Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story

Good
*Very Funny

Bad
*Plot
*Stupid

Overall: Even though Dodgeball's plot is horrible, the humor makes up for that.
As I do every friday as my weekly tradition, I went to the movies. This week I saw Dodgeball staring Vince Vaugn and Ben Stiller. This movie is a big suprise because it was actually very funny and clever. Ben Stiller didn't get on my nerves like he usually does, and Vince Vaugn pulls his comedy bits off very well like in Old School. Vaugn needs to do more comedies, because he's good at them.

This movie should not be missed. It's easily one of the biggest suprises of the summer. A very funny comedy and a great cast.

8/10
I enjoyed it, it was really funnny, and had no thought included in it.
Word. So tonight I headed out to see Dodgeball because I figured it would be a decent comedy. It was a good movie. Rather fast paced, didnt waste too much time and was mostly about the jokes. I think the best thing is that it didnt try to hard and it knew exactly what it was as a movie. So It was definately good and funny.

Now, for a story. As Im heading home with two friends from the theater, we get about 3 miles from my house and this guy is behind us tailing us and hes got his brights on. My friend Derek is thinking its hard to drive so me and our other friend Jim decide that the best solution to the situation is the middle finger. I didnt even think the guy would see in the dark but then we started using two fingers and eventually the 4 fingered solute. So we make a turn onto the 2nd to last street to my house and the guy is tailing us, so Derek starts to outrunt he guy. We make a few turns going about 20 miles over the speed limit and eventually the guy passes on the road and slows down. Then Derek does a 180 and goes in the other direction and the guy goes in the other direction.

All done right...

So then my friend Derek turns down this other raod and decides to head the guy off at the pass. We come up going the other way as this guy and well, we were just being stupid so we do it again. He pulls a 180 and starts following us and we speed up and make a few turns and lose the guy when he turns away.

It was stupid but hey, it was fun. I wouldve felt like more of a jerk but the guy was hasseling my friend when he was driving and junk so yeah, good night.

Last but not least the big bonus of this movie Christine Taylor, star of Zoolander, Wedding Singer, Brady Bunch Movie, to name a few... I'm not exactly sure, but she reminds me of someone i used to know, needless to say, i find her quite captivating. Damn that Ben Stiller... :-P

I'll give a 6/10, some good laughs, worth watching again on video but not that memorable in the long run.

Pretty much what i expected it to do, make me laugh. I didn't laugh my ass off like everyone else in the packed sold-out theater, but this movie was hiilarious. Seeing Rip Torn get the guys ready for dodgeball was just insanely hilarious & seeing him throw the wrenches at them made me teary-eyed. Check this slapstick comedy out, you shouldn't be disappointed if you are looking for laughs here. Definately one of the funniest movies made this year just right behind the hilarious Eurotrip.

I don't remember the last time I laughed so much at a movie. Sure, not all of it works, and sadly Stiller is the least funny of all the main characters, but it garners enough laughs to have you leave the movie with a smile, and an overall 'good feeling'. I smell cult film in the making. Funny, funny stuff
Awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful.

Aside from that, the movie was pretty good.
After seeing the adverts for this pearl, I can't imagine anyone expecting anything more than an hour and a half of mindless popcorn munching, and hoping for a few laughs.

Still, being a former dodgeball victim, I couldn't help but love Patches O'Houlihan's (Hank Azaria's) gleeful observation that dodgeball is "a game of violence, exclusion, and degradation". This connects well with my memories of the game, and judging by the audience's reaction to the statement, I am not at all alone in that.

Funny as that moment was, the humor throughout the movie is very uneven. When a movie shoots for over the top like this, subtle humor is easily missed. Lines like "do you believe in the improbable", or references to King Midas' silver, etc, can easily blow by you in the mayhem.

The movie is clumsily edited, suffers from strange lapses in timing, and fails to fully leverage the considerable comedic talents of the likes of Rip Torn and Steve Root. Moreover, through it all, I kept getting the feeling that Vince Vaughn couldn't believe he was doing this film.

Still, there are moments. The dodgeball action is funny. William Shatner's parody of his own acting was dead on. And I truly wish that my cable TV provider carried "The Ocho".

Keep your expectations low, and you might get a few laughs here. If you can't do that, then you'll be better off skipping this one.
