Wowww. This one kinda disturbed me, however, Rosario Dawson was great!. 6 out of 10 rating.
It's an ugly film that I just don't want to see again. It's a revenge rape film and if that interests you go ahead and watch it. It's no fun.
He Was A Quiet Man (2007) - 5.5/10

Director - Frank Capello
Starring - Christian Slater, Elisha Cuthbert, William H. Macy & Jamison Jones.

Christian Slater stars as a nerdy middle-aged office worker who also happens to be a ticking time bomb. However he becomes an unlikely hero when another office worker goes bezerk instead. He comes to the aid of a beautiful fallen co-worker (Elisha Cuthbert) and finds himself promoted to VP of Creative Thinking by the CEO (William H. Macy).

This extremely low budget indie flick has some merit mainly due to the quirkiness of Slater's character and his enertaining performance. However the director relied on a few silly gimmicks (talking fish) which wasn't quirky, just silly. If you are wondering what happened to Christian Slater it's worth a watch, otherwise you are not missing much.

Descent (2007) - 5.3/10
Director - Talia Lugacy
Starring - Rosario Dawson, Chad Faust, Marcus Patrick.

Another low budget indie flick. Rosario Dawson stars as a college student who is brutally date raped by a school jock. The event has a profound impact on her life which leads to a rather shocking conclusion.

This film was reminiscent of "Hard Candy" but it definitely drifts during the middle act which means a lot of people may not make it to the payoff, if they bother to watch the film at all.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007) - 2.1/10
Director - Dennis Dugan
Starring - Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Jessica Biel, Steve Buscemi, Ving Rhames, Dan Aykroyd, Nick Turturro.

Unfunny and often mean-spirited comedy about two NY Fireman (Sandler & James) who pose as a married gay couple so one can maintain benefits for his children. Whatever....

Sunshine (2007) - 6.2/10
Director - Danny Boyle
Starring - Cillian Murphy, Chris Evans, Rose Byrne, Michelle Yeoh, Hiroyuki Sanada, Cliff Curtis, Troy Garrity.

Visually stunning yet somewhat formulaic sci-fi flick. I do like the look and feel of Danny Boyle films, although his storytelling doesn't always connect. Still an acceptable sci-fi entry.
I did quite a dumb thing in watching "Descent" with Rosario Dawson. No, it wasn't that I watched it. I went into the movie with an idea. I had heard of brutal rape, extreme violence, riveting performances, and such. I had heard that "Hostel" seemed tame compared to Descent. So I, being a horror fan, was intrigued. I was extremely disappointed with the film. The level of boredom came close to that of Citizen Kane. The rape scene was not brutal (not to make it seem as though I enjoy brutality in rape). And there was no violence. The best thing about the movie was Dawson's performance. She was magnificant, but that could not save the movie. It was entirely too dark (perhaps for intentional symbolism) and far too slow paced. My giving this movie a rating of 2 out of 10 is only for Dawson's performance.
This film rewards its veiwers with nothing and is deeply discusting and deeply disturbing.
This emotionally challenging portrait is brave on every level - a furious essay, written with depth and compassion in oil-black splatters of ink.
Gritty.
(**): Thumbs Down
I have never written a movie review, but after seeing Descent, and reading all the horrible reviews, I feel I must defend this movie! The popular opinion is that it is a sick revenge movie. It's so not at all about revenge! It was about innocence stolen, and loss of power, and Rosario Dawson's character's descent in trying to get her strength back by maybe looking in the wrong places. She was strong, and after what happened to her, she didn't know who she was anymore, and tried to be strong in other ways. Anyway, what I got from the movie is that nobody can take your power away from you. What was she feeling in the end? Was she even more lost? It leaves a lot to talk about. It was a great movie, but don't watch it if you can't stand graphic scenes and all you take away from the movie was that one scene, and write small minded reviews!
The plot of this movie could be explained by few short sentences but really nothing worth going into detail.
Total snorefest as far as I am concerned and a complete waste of Rosario's talent.
