one of the best films i have ever seen, it was about 6/7 years ago i first seen this and was by chance i decided to watch it and first thing i was thinking was how have i not seen or even heard about this film. if you have not seen this film yet it will blow you mind 10/10
Blow is a 2001 American biopic about the American cocaine smuggler George Jung, directed by Ted Demme. David McKenna and Nick Cassavetes adapted Bruce Porter's 1993 book Blow: How a Small Town Boy Made $100 Million with the Medellín Cocaine Cartel and Lost It All for the screenplay. It is based on the real life stories of George Jung, Pablo Escobar, Carlos Lehder Rivas (portrayed in the film as Diego Delgado), and the Medellín Cartel. The film's title comes from a slang term for cocaine ... Well the movie speaks for itself!!
Its all about drugs but a very well done movie. Its kinda spooky how well Johnny plays George Jung.
Well I was gonna wait until tomorrow sometime but I was kickin it upstairs and figured why not. So I watched Blow and I was far more pleased with that movie than I had expected it to be. I guess the way I would describe it, is full. It just felt like a full movie or something to that extent. Johnny Depp handled his role really good too. He had that cocky attitude while still being able to show his own insecurities. I think what I really like about this film, even though I dont think it was what it was aiming for necessarily, is that you dont have to make money. You cant just be living for a point in your life and then after that point, have your life be satisfied. Because either you will reach that point, and you wont know what to do, or you will never reach that point, and no matter what, theres always going to be something around the bend. I dont know, but I definately liked it alot, and far better than Scarface.
Well I FINALLY got this movie. It was the last of the selection they had at the movie store and it was cheap too. Only $16.00. I went on a movie spree yesterday and this was the first onw I decided to watch. I loved this movie, it made me laugh and it actually made me cry at some parts but especially at the end. Before viewing this film, I didn't even know who George Jung was really, another reason why I enjoy this film. I liked how Johnny narrated the film too.

A good movie, definately worth spending an evening with. Johhny Depp is once again - as allways - a pleasure to watch.

The movie:
Blow is based on the true life of George Jung. He is the man that claims to have smuggled 85% of the cocaine that was in america during the late 70's and early 80's. He had millions upon millions of dollars, and yet was never really happy.

There are few movies that get me as emotionally connected to the characters as this movie did. I knew from the beginning that, after earning tons of money from drug smuggling, he was going to fall hard.

The movie takes a unexpected turn towards the middle, where instead of the fun partying, or negotiating with columbian drug lords, it is more about his relationship with his daughter, and his relationship with his father.

The story is interesting, Johnny Depp plays this character with more emotion than I have seen him play in any other movie, and it is well directed and moving.
johnny depp gives a brilliant performance as george jung...who has the infamous distinction of opening the cocaine trade between the united states and pablo escobar... this movie is fun and exciting, but also has a lot of heart.... it is like a roller coaster ride and shows jung's ascent into the lap of luxury, only to face tragedy, then rebound and ascend again, only to face tragedy the end, the only thing he wants is a relationship with his daughter and he fights and fights for it.... i'm sure the movie puts jung in a very favorable light and depp is extremely likeable in character... however, know that this movie may not be dead-on accurate, and just let your adrenaline rise thanks to the exciting storyline and your emotions flow thanks to the heartfelt performances (especially depp and liotta)
