Although "the end" was clear from the beginning on, it was still exciting but not too great.
Basic Instinct...hmmmm.
I loved the movie when I first saw it. I was 16 or 17 at the time. I never saw such sex like that in a movie. And I felt there was a story there too. I still feel that way; but, looking back now critically, there are obvious holes in the plot. Sharon Stone is awful as an actress in it (good in the sex scenes though). Michael Douglas is just coasting through the film on auto-pilot. Too bad...in the hands of a more capable director this could have been something to see, a film to talk about. Instead it's a film with an enormous reputation. It's a good film...but not a great one.
Comments pending.
I really don't know what the hype about this movie is all about. My weekend totally got screwed up by watching this movie.

Let me tell you a bit about the version i watched. I got the Director's Unrated Version on DVD. Also, i've not watched the original movie, so i really wouldn't know the difference between this and the actual version.

Anyways, i don't want to waste much time; the movie is watchable once for Sharon Stone... ;)

Other than that, the story sucks big time. Too many loose ends are left at the end. Well, probably i do not know how to enjoy movies..ah well, i got 2 more movies to write about ... so take care

My rating : 4/10 :rotten:

Basic Instinct

Review:

Remember when American R-rated movies used to be cool? I was either twelve of thirteen when Basic Instinct came out and I never got around to seeing it until now. You can say it kept me interested, though the truth of the plot is as obvious as Sharon Stone's awesome slutiness. The characters, mainly on the police side, all seem extremely made up and unresearched. But don't fear, Stone gets naked and starts sexing it up whenever you may have doubts. If I saw this at thirteen I'd still be as much of a pervert as I am today.
This movie was extremely erotic with a nice touch of violence and gore. Basic Instinct was one of the most controversial flicks of its time and it still is rather eye raising even today. I remember when I was a little kid and I watched this movie with my parents, I didn't know what was going on then, but now, I finally watched it as a twenty something and I completely understand it now.

The flick had these neat twists and turns that you just don't see much of anymore, and it also had some extremely exciting sex scenes. I never realized Michael Douglas's sex appeal till now and I must say mmm!

Sharon Stone is really hot in this movie as well, but alas, one thing that threw the movie off was that smoking is not sexy! Anyhow, the movie gets a six because it was an ok flick and it gets two bonus points because of a cameo. That's right, this movie's cameo appearance by Sharon Stones evil snatch!

I couldn't resist myself.

Basic Instinct is the only movie that made me think one hour after the movie was over. This movie is way too overloaded with sex, but it is brilliant. Big Thumbs Up
